No Profit Challenge (NPC) is a social web-app, available for mobile devices too, that allows all its users
to find and take part in local volunteering experiences proposed by no-profit charity organizations, which
have an increasing need of resources and support for their social work activities.
No Profit Challenge is the result of a regional partnership in Sicily, but it has national breadth and
contains many of the biggest activities dedicated to young people and volunteering (GIOSEF ITALY,
ARCI SICILIA, CGIL SICILIA, ARCI RAGAZZI SICILIA, FORUM DEL TERZO SETTORE, ANCI SICILIA e CeSVoP).
NPC is a project funded by the “Fondazione con il Sud” through the “Con il Sud che Partecipa” competition.
If you are a Volunteer and you want to commit some of your free time to one of these Activities,
you will be able to do it with a simple and quick method. The great thing is that apart from doing
good for someone in particular or to your community, you will have a tool that helps you develop
soft skills for your professional career, and to certify them thanks to the impact reports.
Soft skills are competences that are not specific to a professional role. They are your social,
communication and manager skills, like problem solving. They are complementary to the hard skills,
that is, technical and administration skills tied to a specific job.
According to research by Manpower, a selected companies sample has shown to be, on average, very
interested in those skills for the candidates they have selected.
If you are part of an Organization and you need to promote your activities in the third sector in order
to meet volunteers that want to make use of their free time taking part to your Activities, with NPC
you will be able to do it quickly and optimizing your efforts.
NPC is a system that helps you manage many of the duties typical of the organization world:
- visibility improvement of your local activity, on a national scale
- easiness in finding volunteers
- organization profile
- history of the Activities made through NPC
- history of all the Volunteers that took part into your Activities
Inside NPC there are many types of users, each different and with specific actions. You can register as:
- Volunteer, if you want to spend time and live experiences in this kind of Activities, and develop some competences that you need for your professional career;
- Organization, if you need help for your Activities both in operational terms (to meet Volunteers) and managing (database of activities and volunteers);
- Network, if you are part of a network in which there are several Organizations.

If you want to become a volunteer, you will be able to login both from NPC website and
your account Facebook or Google. You will be part of the NPC community only after
completing your profile. In order to do it, you will have to fill in the Profile tab
and the Interests and Causes, and Competences sections.
The Interests and Causes are those that you recognize as the most similar to you.
NPC wants to put in contact Organizations and Volunteers that are the best fit. For this
reason we ask all the Volunteers on the portal to choose 5 amongn Interests, Causes and Competences,
that are most representative of them.
Every user must choose her own Interests and Causes and give a brief personal description that
shows the Competences that he already possesses, and 3 Competences that she wants to acquire.
All the Interests, Causes and Competences are shown graphically online.
To partecipate you will have to complete your profile and go to the “Scopri” section and, if you want,
by activating some search filter you will be able to select the most interesting Activity for you.
By clicking on the “Candidates” button or by contacting the Organization profiles to get more
information you will be able to take part into the Activities.
At the end of the experience we will invite the Organization and the Volunteer to review each
other. This evaluation is really important because: it allows to increase your score for the
BADGES useful for the NPC system inside the portal, which has an impact on the ranking of our
competence Rankings; it allows you to acquire a position among the Community members and to
improve your level.
Each volunteer inserts the competences to develop as if they were goals: the NPC system will make
so that as the chosen target for the competence to develop is reached, the icon that represents it
changes look. Each badge will have levels associated to steps measured in hours.
The history of the Activities is configured on your page as a CV of Activities of the third sector.
The impact report created by the Organization will be automatically visualized as a record in your
profile and will be easily downloadable in PDF format, as a true certification.
The impact report is a multimedia post that the organization must publish before 72 hours after the conclusion
of the activity.
An impact report is composed by specific information: name of the organization, activity title, date,
place, causes, list of competences that the activity helped the partecipants to develop and at least
three pictures or a Youtube video.
The Impact Reports are visible in the section "History of the activities" of the organization and
in the "Impact portfolio" of the volunteer that took part in the activity.
After the Impact Report gets published, the volunteer will be able to evaluate her volunteering experience
with a feedback composed by a comment and a score from 1 to 5 on the activity. The users and the organizations
can share the impact reports on social networks in order to achieve maximum reach, through the “Share” button.
If the organization still hasn't released its report after 72 hours, it will not be able to add more
volunteering opportunities, until all the expired activities get their Impact Reports.
NPC was born in order to support the concept and environment of volunteering work. The NPC team is
all volunteers, so we invite to partecipate ONLY when you want to.
You will enjoy the exprience better.
Unlike the Volunteer user, the organization must insert all the data when registering; in this way there
will only be fully documented profiles of organizations. The organizations can still edit their data and
insert the optional ones if they have not been specified (for example, the statute).
The Organizations, like the Volunteers, will have a public profile where, apart from showing all the
generic informations, will be constantly updated with the statistics on the total hours of the Organization
and the total number of volunteers involved in the proposed activities.
It's sufficent to be logged into the platform with an Organization account and fill in the form with all
the required data, like the title, the date and the place where it will take place, the number of involved
volunteers, the cause and the competences that the individual volunteer would develop.
They are groups of organizations that can register infinite Organization profiles. The network users
registers as organization users and will be "promoted to Network" by an admin from the administration
panel on the platform. The organization registered by a network have an extra field that allows us
to trace who created it.
The networks have a page where they can monitor data and statistics about organizations registered by themselves.
